General Information

PEEK is a semi-crystalline high performance thermoplastic that is characterised by a combination of excellent mechanical properties,hight temperature resistance and good resistance to wear and fatigue.It also resist a wide range of chemicals.This excellent combination has turned it into the most popular advanced plastics. When exposed to a flame, it is self-extinguishing, low flammability and very low smoke emission. It has a low level of creep combined with high modulus of elasticity. PEEK has better performance in wear and abrasion applications than fluoropolymers. Unfilled PEEK stock shapes are compliant for food contact ( BfR, FDA). PEEK can be filled to imporove its performance for specifica applications. For instance, PEEK filled with 10% Carbon Fiber+10% Graphite+10% Ptfehas greater pressure-velocity capabilities and lowera its coefficient of friction. This is though, strong, rigid and creep resistant.PEEK filled with 20% Ceramic, has excellent dimensional stability in wet conditions and has good dielectric properties for isolative aplications. Finally, a Fiber glass filler reduces the rate of thermal expansion and improves the strenght of unfilled PEEK.
